Gambelant VZW is the leading Gambian community association in Belgium, founded with a powerful mission: to unite Gambians living in Belgium, support their integration into Belgian society, and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of The Gambia.

🌍 Our Origins & Purpose

Established in 2013 by a group of visionary Gambians, Gambelant was born out of a shared need for connection, solidarity, and empowerment. These founders recognized the challenges faced by Gambians abroad and sought to create a platform that fosters:

• Unity and collaboration among Gambians in Belgium

• Practical support for newcomers navigating life in a new country

• Cultural preservation, showcasing the traditions, values, and vibrancy of Gambian life

Today, Gambelant VZW proudly represents over 400 registered members and continues to grow as a beacon of community strength and cultural pride.

Our work spans both local and international impact:

In Belgium:

• 🏠 Community Integration: We assist Gambians with housing, education, employment, and legal guidance.

• 🎉 Cultural Events: From our annual Goudy Chosan festival to youth programs and family days, we celebrate Gambian culture with flair and inclusivity.

• 📚 Workshops & Seminars: We organize sessions on civic engagement, language learning, and navigating Belgian institutions.

In The Gambia:

• 🛠️ Development Projects: We support grassroots initiatives in rural communities, focusing on infrastructure, education, and health.

• 🌱 Partnerships: Collaborating with local organizations like VDC Basse, we ensure sustainable and community-led development.
